I wouldn't mind seeing a picture or two of your bumper and tail lights, ragsdale. I'll be having to do something similar with mine pretty soon and am always interested in seeing what others have done.

I replaced the solenoid. Got it started and drove it 20' and stalled in the snow. Then it would not start so I ended up changing the starter outside in 4" of snow instaead of in a nice cozy barn.

Also had to fix my JK. It developed electrical problems also. Still cant get the tpms light to go out. (Can I say tpms in a CJ forum? )

Took my speedometer/fuel gauge/temp gauge apart. Both temp and fuel gauge register all the way to the top. It appears the sending units are ok because they are giving an appropiate ground signal. It must be the gauges.

75' cj-5. Replaced the distributor cap in the rain!

Yesterday, finished the home-made halfdoors!

Notice the redneck use of duct tape to keep the wind from tearing the leading edge! lol
Poor college students do what they can with the money they have, total cost for both doors, 5$

ragsdale,

I built a similar bumper for my '7 and am looking to build a spare tire carrier. Just a few questions about yours...What did you use for a pivot point? It looks likes some type of spindle, but what exactly is it? And I assume the catch is on the bumper...Is it just one of those spring loaded pivot pins like trailer tailgates have?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get some ideas.
Thanks

Jp360. the pivot point is just a solid piece of 1 inch bar. I had a guy at a machine shop make that and the 1/4" sleeve that slides over it. Its a really tight fit...than drilled a hole in the side of the sleeve and welded a nut and threaded in a grease zerk. and left enough of the bar sticking past the sleeve to put a locking collar to hold it down. If you do it that way the sleeve may need to be re sized after welding...but if you really want some good ideas check out this thread...its where I robbed all of mine
