Sounds like you have other problems, maybe the linkage is hitting something and not allowing it to detent properly, or the detent itself is weak/broken. Mine works way better than the stock floppy stick, never had it pop yet. well made and firm, solid lock up.

I think its the 4:1 that does it. The kit comes with new spring and ball. I think i put it in the front stick not rear.... Either way im gonna pull it again and redo.

It's in the mid to upper 70's today, which is unheard of for Maine in October. So I've got the top down and I'm spending my lunch break riding around town. And having a beer on the deck of my favorite local brewery.

Had to rebuilt the Carter over the weekend as a result of doing stupid stuff.

Had a clogged fuel filter a few weeks ago. Being in a hurry and a few bricks shy of a load, I cleared it with compressed air. I knew the filter was clogged because I had been putting off replacing the fuel tank. I cleared the filter really good, filter media and all. After a couple of trips to town, I got all the crud in my carb bowl. Couldn't keep the idle tubes clean after that.

this weekend I decided to take apart the e-brake and see what I had to deal with. everything was missing except the star adjuster for the brake.

cleaned up the transfer case and skid plate of almost all of the old mud and oil that accumulated prior to me getting the jeep. driveshafts were also taken off and cleaned up.

yesterday I took of my right front brake drum to see what else was going on. wheel cylinder was leaking and brake shoes soaked with brake fluid. I took the wheel cylinder apart and it was full of debris. I believe that was causing the leak since the rubber inside and out of the wheel cylinder are in good condition just have to clean them up. I did order new shoes this week from NAPA and wheel cylinder repair kits as well. drums are in good shape also.

lots of fun cleaning all the old mud and grease also.

pulled my wiring harness out from the box it has resided in for 11 months. Then I gave it a good long stare, trying to scare it into submission. I lost. Try again tomorrow

Walked by it to get in the tj to go to work. I need to put a quieter exhaust on it so I can drive it home from 2nd shift without waking the neighbors. Until then I don't drive it to work much.

Put a suspension lift on my 79 cj7. Used springs but better than before. 1 "+ in the front and 2+ in the rear. 2 inch wheel spacers on all 4 to widen the track. Broke a wheel stud in the process Need new shocks front and rear. How do I tell what size I need after the lift? Measured from top mount to bottom. 16 on the fronts and 19 1/2 on the back. Advise appreciated.
