Applied 2 gallons of degreaser to engine and transmission. Pressure washed. Need to rinse and repeat.

I got tired of messing with it and gave up again. One day I'll get it.
I've been wrestling with mine since I bought her, about six months. I finally got it mostly working a couple weeks ago. I'm guessing you've read the troubleshooting stuff that John Strenk has put together? I had three different gauges, changed the sending unit, traced all the wiring, added dedicated grounds... It ended up being a bunch of things wrong, still one to go. The gauge works fine from empty up to half. Any mor gas than that and it stays pegged at 1/2. I suspect there is a mechanical jam in the gauge at this point, but haven't taken it apart - again. GOOD LUCK!

I got back today from a five day trip to the North Maine Woods. I put about 600 miles on my CJ, mostly on gravel and dirt. This is the first big trip I've taken with it in the six months I've owned it.

There was lots of pounding down the logging roads to shake things up. Ended up breaking the top off the fuel pump. Luckily I had a spare one at camp and a cousin to give me a lift and fetch it. Also got water in the distributor cap yesterday morning.

Overall it was an awesome hunting trip and I'm ready for a regular day of work. Time to wrench now

I live in Maine, but it's a five hour drive to get "up there". There'll be another trip in a few weeks when I'll be helping a friend with his moose hunt. I didn't get a permit, but an aunt got one and a friend. Different weeks, different zones, which means I can help with both hunts

It's taken me this long to get the CJ running well enough to take on an extended trip like this. The plan is to keep it running this well (of course).
