MC2100 8.5 Hg Power Valve!!!

I recently jetted down to 47s (from 48s) in my MC2100. Runs great but I was getting a backfire through the carb under load at low rpms (lean).

I get about 19-20 Hg at idle. PTC is around 13-14 Hg.

I finally changed the power valve in my MC2100 from the one that came with the GP Sorenson rebuild kit (unmarked but probably 6.5 Hg) to a Holley 8.5 Hg. Probably took a grand total of 5 minutes.

Night and day when the engine is under load! What a difference. I drove it with a vacuum gauge in the cab and it's easy to identify when the power valve opens. If I really bog the engine under load I still get a lean backfire -- but I have to try a LOT harder now.

I have a 9.5 Hg...I might try that just to see. The nice thing about the MC2100 is that it takes me about 1 minute to get it off now that I am good at it.

It's the small victories that make the CJ life worthwhile, ain't it?

Cheers,
TrebleHook

Finished new windshield frame and glass installation, with broken driver's side hinge replacement. I hate 30 year old Torx screws.

Isn't your radiator a little to exposed? Might want to move it up a tad.

Really can't with the body lift as u can adjust the radiator but unless I put in an electric fan set up cant adjust the fan height. Fabricated a front frame cover that will hide it cheaper then the alternative

Pulled my transmission input and output bearings and pulled it apart to prepare for a rebuild.

Replaced all my main bearings and RMS... The old thrust bearings were boogered up so my end play went from .065 to .025.

Cleaned up and painted my skid plate and cleaned my bellhousing.
