Mine has a rubber bushing and a metal clip but you are right the clip would not be necessary with the set screws.

Mine had a rubber bushing at one time with a metal retainer clip. I have two shifter assemblies, I'll try the set screw idea first and see how that goes.

To stay on topic I did nothing to my CJ today. Just too much other stuff going on.

well yesterday....
pulled the headlights, hood, windshield, mirrors, hardtop, doors, all the mounting crap for the before mentioned stuff, the seats, and i got 1 bolt left for the grill. next is the fenders, taillights, extra wiring, the whole dash piece, and maybe get the body off of the frame. that should take care of the rest of the week.

Installed new seals and gaskets in the transmission and then started to reseal the transfer case. But now I think I am going to be teaching myself how to tear down and reassemble a Spicer 20 transfer case

Put in a new speedo and cable in today. I also Retorqued the u-bolts on the superlift I installed last week. Removed the alarm system that the previous owner had installed, it was draining the battery. Repaired some wiring, but I will just get a new wireing harness from painless. Checked all fluids levels and greased everything that needed greased.

Torched the old leaf spring and shock bolts off since they didn't feel like budging with an impact. Installed a new 2.5 inch RC lift. Beat the piss out of it in the woods to try out the new suspension, realized it was time to order some tires. Ordered some 31 inch super swamper trxus mt's and new wheels, fender flares, and a starter. oh snap.

you know you should have drains in the tub unless it is not the original tub. sorry too lazy to check your profile

Restoration = lots of $ & time thrown at the jeep. I know we all know this but it helps in the process to keep things in perspective.

I removed the seats, carpet, center console, seat belts, shifter boots, shifter access panel, and other misc items. I started cleaning up the tub and getting the rollbar ready to remove. Getting closer to my goal
