Installed an HEI and set it Sat. morning. Immediately started on installing a Howell TBI. Finished today and it started on the second crank. I can't believe how easy it was. I can't drive it until I get the air cleaner delivered and it's killing me. I can't wait to take it on the road and see what that baby will do now.

I can't believe all the crap on my floor; carb, vacuum hoses, and old wiring harness. The engine bay is so much cleaner now. This should have been the first thing I did to my 7.

Took it to referee for inspection. 2 year frame off. Passed smog but failed visual. Referee says I have to have the exact exhaust configuration from the vehicle I took the engine from. I need to copy the exhaust from a 1999 Chevy Blazer w/4.3L.

removed some useless brackets left over from the old AC unit (prepping for new valve cover install) and found at least three less-than hand-tight exhaust/intake bolts- so I did a little snuggin'.

Loaded the engine into the back of the truck and took it to the shop to be rebuilt. Also removed the transmission and transfer case. Going to clean that up this weekend. The only thing left on the frame are the brake lines.

I'm almost to the end of the "tear down" stage. Pretty soon, I will start putting it back together. I can't wait!!!!
