Go Tigers!

Installed a Flowkooler water pump, replaced thermostat, replaced all hoses and belts, installed new radiator and fan shroud.
Still waiting on the heater core that I ordered over 2 weeks ago from 4wd.com to finish the job. ![]()

Well got my 360 finished up, went through everything tightened up some bolts and welded a huge crack in my frame that we found, added some gauges to monitor the 360 and drove it on its first drive home about an hour. Also did a quick shake down run to test the 4x4 out.

Put all the straps on the gas tank.
![]() Cut a hole for the fuel filler on the CJ side. ![]() Then sanded and dealt with the rust in that picture that I'd never seen before.

Put on a HEI distributer and in the process of finishing up a Howell TBI. All I have left is to install the dual CTO. I didn't see that I had to buy one before I started the conversion. No one here carries it in stock so I had to order it. I should be running by tomorrow evening.

Drove it after 4 months of having it down. It definitely isn't a rock crawler, and it won't be until it magically transforms from a CJ-5 to a CJ-7. I did a tranny swap to a NV4500 with a Dana 300, a bit long so now my rear driveshaft is all but a foot long(maybe). I rotated the rear yolk upward using some shims, and there isnt any vibration. There is an exhaust leak coming from the right header, I think. The 350 sounds like a jack hammer with a super charger bolted on to it. So far so good!

Took out the 360, and pulled it down to find a spun rod bearing. Will be rebuilding the engine from the crank up this weekend and putting it back in. Also found that the ignition module was bad, so I replaced that too.

Put new tail lights on... new running lights.... and a new driver's side outer door handle. People can now see me signal turns, stop... and I don't have to crawl in from the passenger's side anymore to open my door!
Later I'll have TJ style fender flares on! (With Pics, woot)

Started fabbing up my own aluminum diamond decking rear corners. Using 1/8 thick is a bit hard to bend.
I got the passenger side done. Got the aluminum from the scrap yard so instead of $150 for rear corners I should get them done for about $30 including cut off wheels and hardware. I also ripped apart the PO's patchwork where the passenger compartments angles up to the bed. That was all rusted out and the PO had pop riveted in a piece of flashing (that was great at holding all of the dirt and mud right there against the rusting metal. Tore that out cleaned up the rust, hit it with rust converter, and bolted up some patch work from the bottom. Not great work but better than was there. |
