went on 1st trail ride in cj Saturday

Finally got to go on my first ride in my 77 cj5 this past Saturday. Took my 7yr old boy and 5yr old girl. Went to stony lonesome ohv park in cullman Alabama. They had a great time except for when I stalled out the carb on a hill. We mostly rode easier trails with one moderate trail that was a bit of a challenge. I was amazed at how well a cj with a T18 (6.32 1st) with 31" tires and 4.10 open diffs performed. I had always went riding previously in my 78 bronco with 38's. The jeep will go thru and around obstacles much easier than the huge bronco. The cj makes me not want to go in the big bronco anymore unless its deep mud. I can only imagine how much better it would be with 33-35's and locked up front and rear. We had an awesome time.

Glad the maiden voyage went well! Sounds like you'll have many more to come.

I fell in love with the model CJ back in the 80's. I had an 83, that I bought 2 yrs. old. It was in great condition. I fearlessly drove it up steep hills and it never failed me to go where ever I wanted. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I am on my 3rd one now. I am much more reserved, and would love to do some more modifications, but have 31's and have lots of fun, may get 32's.
