Warn or Worn Hubs?

Here's the deal........When I lock the hubs and shift the transfer case into 4H or 4L the front tires are not turning (working).....the front drive shaft is turning, the shafts are turning at the end of the axle, but when it comes to the front tires turning.....it just ain't happening. The Warn locking hubs that are on this CJ ('79 CJ5) have been on there for several (did I say several?) years. Do you think that they are worn out and not engaging and I need to replace them? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Please help! As I feel that the snow is going to come hard this winter in Illinois.

Helpless in Illinois..........

They most likely need to be taken apart, cleaned and greased!
There is a spring inside that doesnt have enough tension to engage the hub if there is to much crud, rust etc.
Just take them apart and clean all the parts and re grease them making sure everything slides freeely. look for broken parts as you go.
Get yourself a good manual like "chilton" or "haynes" if you dont already have one.
