VIDEO: Is this a normal amount of play in the lower steering column bearing?

I can't find this part locally so I am trying to figure out if I should wait for a replacement to be shipped to me before putting the steering shaft back on or not. Also, not shown in the video, but the column shaft pushes back up into the firewall. I am not sure if that's normal or not, but it makes re installing the steering shaft very hard.

The lower column bushing/bearing could be bad.
In a perfect world, I suppose no play would be ideal.
As for re-installation, you're fighting the upper shaft preload spring, normal.
Another set of hands pushing down gently on the steering wheel would solve that.

Hmm, the steering wheel doesn't seem to have any pull/push correlation the shaft. I had to pull it back out with needle nose pliers when I pushed it up too far. I'm sure I can get it on there if I hold it down with a pair of vice grips or something. Just wanted to make sure that was normal.

Mine has the same amount of play. Does not seem right. I can feel it while driving when I hit a bump

Not sure if replacing the bearing would solve the problem

I ended up replacing the bearing and it resolvd most the play. Didn't really fix the issue I was looking to resolve though.
