Like I said in general, that dude was a nut and a fraud, but I hate to hear he passed. He was always good for a laugh and an outrageous story. Some people are just...different.

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"

I remember all the discussions on all the supposed "upgrades" that was done to it. Would be a good way to find out just what was there! And also a good time to get rid of those ugly over sized orange hooks!

Either way, I hate hearing of someone's passing. Farewell fellow CJer..

Yes, R.I.P Robert. I am looking for a second jeep to wheel hard and I wish i had the cash to pick it up. I think it would be a good ride. I do not think the price is that unreasonable if it has everything done to it that has been said.
I like the orange hooks Cutlass, and if I could get my hands on it the whole Jeep would be repainted AC Orange

Don't believe it for a second. Looks like he pulled the same stunt in 1999.

Wish I could have seen the CL ad. I remember his post and discussions, very elaborate and extravagant...but all fluff.

Adios and thanks for the entertainment.

Heres from TexasCJ7's link, if you could get it. I don't recall the guy so I don't know what the fuss is about, but heres what the UFO website link said:

Robert AM Stephens Has Died

I just received the following fax attached to an email from an
anonymous source. This material has not been confirmed:

Robert A.M. Stephens, who showed up on the UFOlogy scene about
one year ago, made quite a stir in many UFOlogy camps, including
late night talk show host Art Bell.

Stephens made a very brief appearance on the Bell show in late
December of 1998. Mr. Stephens was to debate a regular guest of
Mr. Bells', Richard C Hoagland. For some unknown reason, Mr.
Stephens was cut off from the show by Mr. Bell.

Apparently intensely angered by this, Mr. Stephens then created
a website called "Behold" and "Shady Pines", depicting many of
the mainstream "UFOlogists" including Art Bell as "guests" of a
fictitious insane asylum.

Following a nearly fatal illness and legal action against him by
Art Bell, Mr. Stephens has disappeared from the ufology scene.

Rest in peace, Robert Stephens....

A simple web search yielded the Missoulian newsroom number:

1-800-366-7186

I talked with 'Roberta' there this afternoon. There has
been no obituary for Stephens nor does his name appear
in their database of recent stories.
