Value of CJ7 Renegade

Hey everybody, I'm helping one of my friends look at a CJ7 with the Renegade package on it. So far all I can tell that it has is the 304 w/automatic, 104000 miles and has some body rust around the wheel wells and on some of the body seams. Motor sounds very strong, and the tranny seems to shift good and solid. A bank is auctioning it off and I was kinda wondering what is a reasonable offer for my friend to put in for it. Also if anyone can help me out on what tranny it might have in it and possible transfer case/differentials, it would be much appreciated. I've never done too much with the CJ's, I know the YJ's and the old waggy's. Thanks for all you help.

What year is it? That makes ID-ing parts a ton easier.

Sorry, I forgot to put that it was a 79'. I looked it up on NADA, but I'm just kinda wondering what someone in here would pay for one or what they think would be a fair price. Thanks again.

'79 CJ7, I would pay no more than $4000.

I think he was going to put in a offer for 3,000. Any idea on what the tranny would be in it. I came up with a TF999, but I don't know enough about the CJ's. Also what Transfer Case might it have too?

If it's a 79 it has a quadratrac full time 4wd. Chain driven tcase with a GM TH400 tranny. Tranny is fine, tcase would be ok if it hasn't been abused, but since it's 20+ years old and you don't know who had it before I wouldn't plan on it being taken care of (especially if it's a repo). If the tcase goes out and you want to swap a part time tcase in you gotta replace the rear end too as teh qtracks used an offset pumpkin in the rear end and the part time tcases used a centered pumpkin. With the rust and a qtrack I wouldn't pay over $2-2.5k for it and that's if it runs and drives ok

I was wondering if it did have the TH400 and q-trac combo. I'm very familiar with that set up, because thats what on my old 76' wagoneer. Like I said I hadn't seen the vehicle yet, so I was just trying to get any info and opinions for him before he does put a bid in on it and end up regretting getting it. Thanks for you help on everything, if there is anything that I might have missed, just give me a holler.
