Only that 3rd picture was mine. I don't mind if anyone wants to use my pictures, don't need any credit either. I just wanted to point out that mine were made a bit different than most of the instructions floating around out there.

Here's pic of tabs I got with JB COnversion sticks. Since I am mating d300 to sm420, the reverse gear bulge in tranny is in way. The novak adapter allows me to clock the t-case up so hopefully I will not have shifter rail interference w/tranny. The twin stick makes the situation a little tighter to deal with
http://picasaweb.google.com/hansw3/Cj5/photo#5194171562608977618 Also heres pics of twin sticks installed backwards to reverse tabs away from tranny case bulge before novak told me I should have no problem clocking the t-case up further w/thier adapter that I have. I am glad I spent the 130 on the twin stick kit because they are polished stainless steel. http://picasaweb.google.com/hansw3/Cj5/photo#5194170914068915858 |

I clocked my t-case up to the 2nd highest position on the novak adapter for the SM420 and now I installed normal. I ground one of the shift rail detents out to get full function twin stick. I have put about 500 miles on the jeep with one wheeling weekend. Having the twin sticks is fun and they are working great. The D300 shifts easy if you roll forward when shifting it. I did have to replace these plastic bushings on the shifter fork and I also dissassembled the shifter rails, degreased, lubed and put back together.

I kept looking at the "slop" issue and thinking there must be a different, simpler way to do it. Here is what I came up with. It's just a square nut (drilled out) welded to a steel bushing. Haven't got it installed yet, so remains to be seen how it works.

JB Conversion twin stick
I have next to no free play with my twin stick kit. I wussed out on this item and purchased it, although it did involve some extra work to make them as tight as they are. Here are the tabs that attach to the shifter rails. There are vertical slots in the sticks (not pictured) that go over these.
http://picasaweb.google.com/hansw3/JeepCJ5FabPics/photo#5217157218446084898 I did end up lopping the inner ear off the aluminum bracket (because the reverse idle shaft bulge in the SM420 was in the way) and machining flat the big one that had an angle which would not allow the sticks to be bolted to parallel surfaces due to the draft in the casting. Here is pick of t-case on the bridgeport http://picasaweb.google.com/hansw3/JeepCJ5FabPics/photo#5217156904655476914 To get the sticks exactly where I wanted them was an iterative process. I assembled them with the same spacing as on the t-case with the 5/8" pivot bolt in my vice and heated and bent them, this way I knew how close I could get them together before bolting them up on the jeep. |

Not sure if i missed this, but I am interested in the Twin stick option for my CJ, but was curious if it would be able to put both Front and rear axle in Nutrual.
I flat tow my jeep alot, sometimes up to a couple hundred miles and like to put the T-case in neutral. OR Am i just retarded? thanks
