transfer case hits skid plate

i've got a 904at with dana 300 tarnsfer case...
it seems as if the trans case is held up by the skid plate...soo much so that it rubbed a pin hole in the bottom cover...
why is the unit soo low...?

Check the mount at the transfercase. It may be broken and will let the T case rest on the skid plate. It happens on mine from time to time. It should also rattle when off road(if mount is broken).
