transfer case fluid

I was checking the transfer case fluid for the 1st time in awhile today and when i took the plug out nothing dripped out, is this bad? should some come out? if so what kind of transfer case fluid should i use? thanks guys. oh, my jeep is a 1980 cj 7 automatic

Stick your finger in the hole and see if you can feel the fluid. I know, that could have come out a lot better. Wait.... well you get the point.

Hahahaha, brilliant!!! I use 75-90w gear oil in the transfer case. I have the Dana 300, not sure what you have, though.

He should have the dana 300 as well and that is correct on the gear oil.
