What shocks do you have? I had a trailmaster ADD-A-Leaf on my old 74' Bronco with their brand of shocks. My god what a miserable ride. I changed the shocks out to Rancho's and ride quality improved greatly. Rancho's are known as a firm shock so to be softer than the trailmasters says a lot.

It's the springs combined with the shorter wheelbase.

i am doing a frame up on the cj, so should i keep the trailmaster or go with a stock yj spring over. will the trailmaster flex as well as the yj springs? i need a new frame,so there wouldn't be a better time for the spring swap

I think you already know the answer to this if you think about it...

SOA versus a standard lift is a whole apples to oranges thing. Search and do your homework, SOA as well as SOA versus standard lift have been covered ad nauseum. Stock YJ packs will not last very long SOA. Not trying to sound like a jerk, but this really does get covered a lot and the info is easily found with a few searches both here, other forums, and the web in general. Once you've done your research, then ask questions if you need clarification on some of the finer points. Your intended use of the vehicle, budget concerns, etc will all play into your decision. Before you spend a single thin dime, you need to sit down and decide what you're expecting out of the final product...how you're going to use it, what you want it to look like, etc...then make a plan to get there. We'll help you on the finer details.

I would imagine that your fiberglass tub is lighter than a regular steel one so the springs could be loaded less than they would be on a stock CJ-5 resulting in a stifer ride. I've also read somewhere that Trailmaster spring tend to be stiffer than some others. If you want to experiment, you might try removeing the bottom leaf from each spring pack.
