Its hard to tell in my picture, and this is one I have saved from a while ago, but the filter should be level with the carb as well right? I am pretty sure that the filter sits a bit lower and I am not sure if I have enough length in the return hose to raise it but hose is easy enough to procure. What is a good way to secure the filter in the correct orientation and at the right level? How were they configured from the factory?

I use to have hard starts. I still kind of do but much better since I replaced my battery. It use to take about a minute or so of cranking to start. Now I crank for about 10 sec. Stop turn the key and she fires right up. I noticed the engine spinning fast which means more fuel pressure.

Replace your battery cables with custom 4/0 arc-welding cables and that cuts allot of loss.
Also, bolt your neg battery cable, that goes to the eng block directly to the mounting bolt on the starter.

Had the same issue with mine. Spun the fuel filter and now it fires up immediently. Wow, easiest fix ever. Thought I was going to go pretty deep in my wallet when I was going to eventually tackle that issue. Thanks!!!
