Post TJ Shocks on a CJ???

I have a question, in order to pinch a penny or two I am thinking about taking the factory shocks off of a 99 TJ, and putting them on a 77cj. Here is what I am thinking about doing and why... I have two projects right now. A 99 TJ that I just bought, and Ordered a 3" teraflex lift for. I need to buy new shocks to put on with the lift. I also have a (pretty much) stock CJ that needs new shocks...( It's a 77, but has the tall shock mounts in the front.) I just need to get the CJ drivable. Will the Shocks off of my TJ fit on my CJ?? It will just save me 150 bucks... And I will probably put a Lift on the CJ sometime this next year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
