Wow! That is a pretty amazing story. It sounds like things are starting to turn good! I hope you'll be able to get the original vin! Crazy.....

I forgot to say that the inspection station is 45mins south of where I live. The chances of him happening to be there, so many years after he sold the Jeep, when it isn't even my town....Crazy.

I think your Jeep put out its SOS signal.

You should seek satisfaction from the seller. It will be his problem to seek satisfaction from who he bought it from and so on, until the trail dies.

You may be able to get a mechanic lien on the Jeep and gain title that way. That is how a shop would gain title if it was abondon there.

This is the craziest story I've heard in a while. Entertaining thread (ok, entertaining for all of us but you, John)!

I agree. That is the craziest story I have heard in a while, and I was the one telling it. (and Pman, I am actually being entertained here too....LOL)

For now, I am waiting to see if we can get the VIN. If there are extra fees the PO will cover those, I am sure. He really is a good guy.

Thanks for the advice and input. I will keep you all updated as I have more info.

Quick update. Apparently some folks didn't understand my story. Bottom line is we are working on getting a new valid VIN for my Jeep through the KHP. That will also enable me to get a clean title with that. That was the whole point of my incredible story. I didn't have much hope of getting a new VIN, before I met the previous owner (from back in 2004). Now that we may know the original VIN, the KHP can reissue it.

Hopefully that is clear now.

Cheers,

John

Another update. I just spoke with the trooper, and they are able to reissue the original VIN. Next week, we will finalize it.

Thanks for all the help. It has been quite the ride.

Cheers,

John
