Timing Issues

Did nutter and team Rush. Replaced Distributor. I missed have stabbed it 20 times over the last six months. Never could get it to start. Finally pulled the fan so I could turn the engine and find compression stroke. Found top dead Center. Mark aligned with harmonic balancer. Set distributor. retarded on pole to account for roation. Turned engine two complete revolutions. Dizzy dropped right in. bolted everything up and she started right up. warmed up set idle. ran for about 15 min. hooked up timing light and i would guess -20 at TDC. Help or come get her. Rather have the help. Runs better when dizzy is pushed all the way against engine. But this just retards timing more.

Are you sure you have your number one plug wire in the number one hole of the distributor cap? If you have all of your plug wires off by one hole you can still adjust the timing enough to get it to run, but your timing marks will be way off.

Sounds like you may be one tooth off on your distributor gear. Pull the distributor back out and slightly turn the rotor to the right, only one tooth. You may need to turn your oil pump slot with a screwdriver also, so the dist. shaft will fall back in place. If that doesn't work, do it again, only turn it the OTHER direction two teeth back and try it.
