tilt steering

Ok All,
I recently installed new seats in the cj but, they are a little too tall (space between seat pan and steering wheel)
I am looking to install a tilt column. What is the easiest column to put in a 1979 cj7. was told a 76-79 chevy would bolt right up, electrical and all.

You assistance please...would be much appreciated

Yes, they will work, unless you can find a 82 to 86 CJ.
85' CJ7 Laredo, 383 GM, Turbo 350, NP 203. SOA, 2" frame lift, 34" TSL swampers, Dana 30 open, AMC 20 w/ detroit locker, 4:10's, 1 Piece Mosers, 35" boggers to abuse when needed.

Mid 80's S10 should work with little or no modification.
80 CJ7 Laredo-351W, NP435, D300, D30/AMC20, TJ flares, 36" TSL's, 3"BL, spray in liner, tube bumpers, and KC's.
69 F150-Hot 302. Project street truck.
94 Land Cruiser-33" MTX's (my wife's)
03 GMC-DD work truck.

Time is fun when you're havin' flies.

I used a column from an '84ish Cherokee Chief, but I had to modify the lower steering shaft and move the high beam and ignition switches a little forward.
What's left of a '79 CJ5
3 - 4" total lift
4.88 gears in a Dana 30 and off center ff Dana 44 with disc brakes
258 with TFI /T18 /D18 drive train with Saturn O.D.
33 x 12 DC Mud Country Radials
