throwout bearing

I am in the process of installing an AMC 360 in a '79 CJ 7 that has a 258. Advanced shows the same part number for the 6 cyl and 8 cyl throwout bearings only. But for the throwout bearing assembly they show two different numbers; 614115 and 614034. I was under the impression that every thing in the bell housing was the same for both the 304 and the 258 and would work with my 360. Tranny is T-18. Will some of you please enlighten me? thanks

the I6 or V8 should not have an effect on the bearing since the bearing only comes in to contact with the transmission and the clutch pressure plate. also i just looked at the advanced auto website and i cant find anything under part#614034.

zeronight, That is what I thought and the reason I am going with a 360 instead of a SBC. Several of the web sellers show different part #'s for I6 & V8. The local Advance folks are all but worthless in something like this. The lady on Advance live chat gave me those #'s after a very long wait.

I am replacing the bearing out of caution since there is nothing wrong with the one in it now. Do I need just the bearing or the assembly? thanks

The throw out bearing should come with the new clutch you should be installing since you are doing the engine swap. When I went to a 360 I had a hard time find the throw out bearing as well so i went to the local shop and had them take it down to the OD I needed.

1985 cj 7. 360 V8, 35X12.50 BFG's sitting on Crager 15X8 rims, summer brothers axle rear, Yukon axles up front, lock rite lockers front and rear, 5" of lift, body armor, six point roll cage, 8000lb warn winch, 4.56 yukon gears front and rear, t-18, dana 300. And much more on the way.

tahoe, What can I say? I am cheap. I bought a flywheel off craigslist. It came with an almost new clutch disk and pressure but no pilot or throwout bearing. I found a pilot bearing with no trouble. I can find throwout bearings all over the net but I don't understand why there are frequently two different numbers for V8 and I6.
