Thoughts on graphics.....

So I'm cleaning up the 76' CJ7, I'm deciding on which graphics to put on the hood. Phoenix Graphics has several to choose from, however I'm not sold on the year specific set: http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/amc/7576jrg.php

Second choice is just a generic Renegade kit: http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/amc/7009jc-r.php

But my favorite is the 72'-73' kit: http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/amc/7273jrg.php

Considering this isn't going to be a full on resto - show Jeep, would it be that big of a faux pax to use the 72-73 kit on a 76...?

I chose to honor the Golden Eagle without copying them. I put an eagle on my hood, oversized, and lost the lettering. It gets looks everywhere I go,on or off road. People say it reminds them of one they had.

That was my goal....bring up,but not a cheap copy.

If you have a favorite then go for it. It's a rare Jeep that is so original looking that the correct graphics for its year would matter. btw I agree with your choice, the first two don't look good to me.

I agree. The 72 kit looks very old school and I think it would look good on any CJ regardless of year.

I placed the 72-73 decals on my 86 - I like the subtle old school, plus your paying homage. I'm still debating spraying on a top stripe, which you'll find on a lot of the modern JK special editions. If I had an issue with glare, I certainly would. Make the jeep your own...

I'm a purist. If it didn't have them, it shouldn't get them. If it did it should be like the correct year it once was. But your not me and it's not my Jeep. So fake it however you want, I'll never see it. Only a knowing Jeeper will notice it's wrong anyways.

Purist are great! We need them as much as we need custom rides. If you like it,do it......not everyone will like it. To that I say too bad for them.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm gonna go with the 72-73' kit. Phoenix Graphics is actually local too, I called and unfortunately they are out....

I hope to have it on by next weekend....stay tuned.

Can't blame you a bit. Put on the ones you like best. Who cares what anybody else thinks.

I'm thinking of doing a vinyl wrap like they use on boats, race cars, advertisement trucks. They can do any kind of computer graphics and you do s much as you want or a little as you want.
