Yeah, right. Every time I start thinking I'm done I just drive it and find out different!

update

still waiting on parts to come in but today while driving around the jeep started dying out of the blue like it was out of gas. so I limped it home and popped the hood, checked the vacume lines, fuel filters, fuel lines and then did a flow test on the fuel pump and found no problems. test drove it and it died again, and also started to backfire badly. came to the forum and did some research couldn't find the answer but thought I'd check the carb one more time. so with the ignition on and the engine off so it had fuel pressure I started checking things and when I hit the throttle fuel shot strait out the side of the carb, the screws that hold the two half's (top and bottom) together were loose and letting air in and gas out. I tightened them up and re-tuned the carb and all is well.

in this pick you can just make out the gas shooting towards my hand.

brief update I have had too much work this week to get anything done I did change the oil again today. I only ran the last oil for about 600 miles to give it a good flush and it did come out pretty dirty. I ran it around the hood for about ten minutes and checked it again still nice and clean now.

update

got some time to work on the jeep yesterday and did some welding on the swing out Carrier, I was able to get the spindle welded in and the main frame of the carrier put together, here's were it's at now.

Those are some big ammo cans. What will they be used for? Keep up the great work.

not all the gas cans will be gas, I'm thinking one with drinking water, one with 50/50 antifreeze and water and two for gas. The ammo cans are for storage, tools, tow straps, chain, and winch kit.

thanks for the encouragement

update

got a little done today, I got sick of hearing the exhaust leak and the jeep was running poorly so I got the gaskets and a carb. kit. I pulled it all apart and while I had the carb. off it looked to have been rebuilt recently, so after swapping the manifold gaskets I just put it back on to see how it ran and was pleasantly surprised

The exhaust manifold however has a vary large area were it has crystallized and cracked so will have to be replaced

engine stripped

dcp45599.jpg

see all the burn spots on the old gaskets

dcp45600.jpg

sorry blurry pic. of crystallized and cracked exhaust manifold

surface prep. before and after

dcp45604.jpg

reassembled

I didn't bother cleaning and painting the manifolds because there coming back off in the near future to replace the exhaust manifold.

Don't know my welding too well, but can't you braze the exhaust manifold?
