Tack problems

Hi all. Is there any reason the stock tack in a 86 CJ7 should not work after installing a MorPar fuel injection system on the stock 4.2 engine. Thanks for your help.

I am not sure I understand your question ..

Tack? Tank? Gastank maybe?

Fuel-injection system for the 4.2l (258ci) is a fairly simple (relative term) install .. all the problems were worked out to do the kit .. which one are you looking at, do you have it, is your Jeep in pieces right now as you are doing it?

More info .. please ..

The stock CJ tach is not like any other tach. It does not simply read the ignition pulses like an aftermarket tach. It is wired in series and is an actual part of the ignition system. When you install the Mopar kit you eliminate the stock ignition altogether. The tach is part of what you eliminate. I know of a group of people were trying very hard to get a stock tach worked into the Mopar ignition, but I don't know if they were successful and never saw any more info on the web about it. Hesco (maker of Mopar kit) recommends you go to an AutoMeter tach and it must be switched to 4 cylinder to work with the Mopar MPI.

Use the 4 cyl. CJ tach or the aftermarket lookalike. I have the MPI on a 258 and used the 4 cyl. cj tach.
