I am working on my 1980 CJ7 re-build. I am yanking the GM-151 and puting in a 1985 258 which has the HEI Mod. Does anyone know if I can use the tach. that was connected to the GM-151? If so where and which wire connects to the 258?

Frame painted with a Rough Country 2.5" lift and shocks installed.
Alot of money spent on parts that are all over including a new 258.
I do not know if the 151 Tach itself will work but, hooking a tach up to an hei distributor is easy. It has two tabs underneath the bottom of the distributor. One hooks it to the car and the other hooks up the tach. This has been my experience on 350's anyway. Hope this helps
1978 Jeep CJ-7 T-400 Q-Trac New 304 edelbrock intake and 4 barrel carb, comp cam, .060 over, dogleg heads and it DOES have some power.Forget swapping in a 350 chevy. Always AMC.
