1976-1986 258 bellhousing will allow one to use a T18 either Ford or Jeep. Jeep used T176 transmissions that have the Ford bolt pattern. SR4, T4 and T5 bellhousing can be used by drilling the correct holes on the bell housing face.
The downside when using a Jeep T18 transmission is the stud that has to be used inside the bell housing. The best bell housing is the Advance Adapters P/N 712569 : Jeep Wrangler 4.0L(4.2L -258) to Jeep CJ7 series transmission (T-4, T-5, T-150,T-176, T18) adapter bellhousing kit. (#712569), it doesn't require a stud as it is drilled and tapped for the oddball Jeep configuration. It also is much heavier and resists warpage that plagues a lot of stock Jeep bell housings.
