T176 Shifting problems

I have a 83 CJ5 with a T176 speed tranny. When I bought it the shifter would regularly pop out from the shift plane and I would not be able to shift the tranny. The shifter showed signs of wear on the pivot ball and end of the shifter. I bought a new shifter and repair kit for the pivot and locking collar. Everthing seemed to work okay and then on a shift from 1st to 2nd it popped out again. Has anyone had this problem and can tell me what to exspect. I am ready to go to the tranny shop and shell out the money if I can't find a fix.

Ive heard the shift forks can cause it to pop out of gear,if they get too worn.I dont know how bad of a job they would be to replace sorry.

I pulled the top cover on the tranny and it does look like that one of the shift forks is chewed up. Thanks. Looks like the tranny shop for me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
