T150/Dana 20 leak (overfill?)

I have been having problems with my T150/D20 leaking where the two meet, so I figured I'd pull the fill plugs out of curiosity and see which one had low fluid levels. We recently had the T150 rebuilt, so naturally I was concerned about this leak.

To my surprise, fluid began pouring out of both fill plugs for the D20 and T150. I wasn't expecting that. Am I correct in saying that the fluid levels should be level with the fill plugs and unscrewing these should not result in fluid pouring out? Is it possible that being overfilled caused the leak?
