t150 clutch/t15a need correct clutch kit?

i have a 78 cj with a 304 v8... bought it needing a clutch. i bought the correct clutch kit for the engine. it is the wrong size!!! double checked, the auto parts store said it is the correct kit. its barely too small.... but cant get tranny back into because of its diameter. also the pilot bushing in the kit is way too small.... any help please want to drive my new jeep!!!! thanks a bunch mike

There are 2 sizes of clutch splines used in Jeeps, one is 1" I think, less common and one is 1.125", most common. They all use 10 spline. You should be able to get just the right disc. The t15 and t150 use different ones I believe. A 1978 should be a t150.
