Has anyone out there had any success with a t-5 behind a 360? I am toying with the idea of keeping it instead of a swap to an automatic in my 82 cj7. Any input is appreciated.

I kept my T-5 when I sawpped in my moderate horsepower 350. I havent had any troubles yet (bout 2 years with it) and I ramjam my Jeep pretty good

Well, a T5 is a light duty tranny though....

I know I sound like a broken record, but you can always rebuild it (if and when it goes) with the World Class kit.

You could always find a nice T-18 or T-18A, that would be killer with a 360. My '77 is getting my T-18A out of my last Jeep that is no longer with me :( but will live in spirit, as it was a '77 also, and this '77 is getting many donor parts, most importantly the T-18A.
You'd have to change your skid plate to the '76-'79 style, and driveshafts, and either use the Dana 20 TC or do something funky to adapt your Dana 300. Dana 20 is fine unless your really beating on it, I have no experience with the 300, but my 20 has help up beautifully, shifts smooth, etc.

I've had a T-5 behind a 360 for about 6 mos. now. No problems. I'd keep it and just replace/rebuild it when it goes.
