Swap 360 into a cj?

I see this can be done(360),but can I swap the 360/t18/d20 into a cj-8?I have the tired old I-6 in there now,as well as the t-176/d300.The tranny and the x-case work fine, but i'd like to swap in all the heavy stuff from the 78 J-20 while i'm at it...Will all this bolt in or...?Thanks

I believe you will have to change the passenger side motor mount is all.

Hey Rusty,

If you move forward with this project, I'd love to take the T-176 off your hands....

The AMC 360 fits in w/out a problem. Keep the D300 T-case as it is geared lower than the 20 and strong if not stronger than the 20. Keep the I-6 ignition control module. Not sure on motor mounts but at the most you would need to change the passenger side? Get the mounts from a CJ with a V-8 and they will work. Pull x-tra brackets for the air-pump as these break and keep the factory A/C from a wagoneer 360 to use for compressed air. I would go with an NP435 or NV4500($$) for a tranny and get the advanced adapters kit for the tranny. Of course a T-18 works as well.

Thanks for the info,it doesnt sound too bad! Now i've got to get a cherry picker and a motor stand. This will be my 1st motor swap, but i'm pretty sure I can get it done.I'll hold on to the T-176-never know if i'll come across a jeep for cheap!

So the tranny and T-case will bolt right in? or am I dreaming?Pinch me if I am <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> (its okay I'm irish
