Surprise!

Well, I'm doing a light restore on my 85 cj. I just took out the carpet today, and BAM! No rust, but have some "hidden" body damage under the carpet. Looks like the drive shaft took a nice beating on the tub, and maybe some major offroading happened, and the drivers seat holes/metal area was torn. This SUCKS! I thought i had the perfect project with minaminal body damage. Oh well, what do you want for $1400.00!

Here is a few pictures of "Keri"

You are in good shape, don't worry... I removed the inner liners today of the "Wrongler" tub swap and found this...

So be happy you live in a salt free, ice free area... I have to cut it all out and clean it all up... Thank god for oxy-acetylene setup as I would have been able to get any of the star bolts out without it!

$1400? Nice find. Wish I had a tub like that to start with. I'd have about 100 posts less here. LOL.

I'm trying to get a trashed roller from a guy in Wilmington but he wants more than you paid for your whole jeep

Looks like the Transfer case slammed its shifter against the tub some how?

Why would you name your jeep "Ken"? j/k

Maybe a broken engine or tranny mount and a little full-throttle action?

It's under the carpet for crying out loud!

Hammer down the hump, Weld up the tear, Add a gusset to your seat mounts and go wheeling!

Did you buy a Jeep or a concourse winning collector muscle car?

That's hilarious, I can just see it now. Did she want to sell his golf clubs too?

My lovely bride has been on me to get rid of an old rear projection TV we have... (had), so she could get a Plasma. Put it on Craigs this morning and the buyer just left with it 1/2 an hour ago.

I never thought it would sell. She's still not getting a plasma though.

I had almost the exact same crack on my drivers side rear seat bolt. I thought the base was just really loose, because you couldn't really see it, until we pulled out the seat. drilled the ends of the crack, pounded it back out, welded it up, and squirted a bit of rattle-can-red on it, and I was good to go. and as a plus, the seat no longer hit the rollbar!

do the tach/clock work?

looks like a great starting point, enjoy!

Hoss

Hehe that reminds me of what my floor looked like, except I didn't have any cracks. I did manage to break one of the seat bolts taking my driver's side seat out, but I just drilled that thing out and used a different bolt and lock nut in its place. I also have that dent/tear in the back hump above the transfer case, but mine is actually much larger. There was actually a piece of steel that was welded on it is so severe. I never could figure out what happened there; I figured maybe the driveshaft came loose from the transfer case and went slapping around. I lost a driveshaft one time in my 87 YJ doing about 50mph, but it never slapped around bad enoug to tear through the floor...

Well, I'm thinking for the one above the drive shaft. Putting a piece of solid metal to prevent this again...As for the seat crack and bolt that come out. Well, install a flat piece of metal iron and weld it to the floor...
