Suggestion

So I was thinking. Maybe some, like Beserk, can make a thread with pictures of axles, trannys, and such, so that people like me, and others, can just figure out which axles they have, or are looking at. It is just a thought, and it will help me out, when I get home this summer and get some time for my cj.

Before long, you'll be as bad as me... when I'm out driving, I always look at a vehicle's axles.. "There goes a Ford van with a rear Dana 60." " There goes a Chevy with a rear 14 Bolt FF.".. "There is an Isuzu with a Dana 44.".. etc. It's like a whole hobby in itself..

Yeah me too but mine goes more like:

"There goes an AMC 20, hey, I see solid axles."

"I think thats a 44..."

"There some independent suspension.... "

"That lifted 2wd F150 has ZERO ground clearance"

"Why is that SUV front wheel drive?"

"What the heck is that?"

"Why don't they put school bus axles under Jeeps, they're huge!"

"Look at the pumpkin under that dumptruck"

or worse...

Buddy: I'm selling a GM front Dana 60.. want it?

Me: Hmmmm.. yeah, I'd like to do rear steer on the buggy.. how much?

Buddy: Don't want to separate the whole drivetrain.. $2000 for engine, tranny, tc and front/rear D60s..

Me: I'll be right back.. gotta go to the bank.. I only want the front axle but I should be able to sell everything else off before the wife finds out.

Wife: WTF is all that stuff on the trailer under the tarp?!!!!!

Me: Ummm.. rear steer for the buggy. Just the front axle.. I'll sell everything else and it'll be like I only paid $1000 for it.. that's a good deal honey... I love you.

Wife: What's that other axle on the patio table under the tarp?!!!!

Me: Oh, that's your old Dana 44 front axle for your CJ... I'm rebuilding it for you... I love you.

Wife: How come you get a pair of D60s and I only get those little D44s?!!!!
