stripped bolt on fuel pump

Hi all,

I recently replaced my fuel pump on my 304 V8 and without any effort I managed to strip the threads on the waterpump housing. Therefore the fuel pump doesn't seat tightly. Will that cause a vacumn leak? I have a slight vacumn leak and was wondering if that is it.

Nope, that will not cause a vacuum leak, but it will cause an oil leak eventually. I would look at installing a helicoil and possibly saving the cover.

Since you're just down the road, I can come over and take a look. Howdy neighbor
