Stock shocks on 2.5" Suspension

Can you use stock size shocks on a 2.5" suspension? I've seen that they sell shocks that are for 0 to 2.5". I would'nt leave the original shocks on there, but i can get a good deal on shocks for a stock cj-7 and want to know if i can use them.

thanks.

When you lift the vehicle, your new shocks are longer to compensate for the taller ride. Even a 2.5" lift will require an extended length shock.

if you dont plan on wheeling the stock length shocks will work fine. if you plan on wheeling the stock shocks will work but you will run into articluation limiting and a possibility of damaging the shocks.
