In July I bought this stock 1980 CJ-7 258 Laredo in NJ for 1500 after sitting for 3 years.

I think all who post here would know what a "stock looking CJ" should look like.

Starting with wheel type, I know of maybe a half dozen that would pass for the stock look and I think most guys get away from that original look by purchasing aftermarket aluminum, black colored, turbine type or just some wheel that looks like it came from the Mars Rover.

Tires too, I think anywhere from 29" -33" are acceptable in size as they more or less fit the wheel wells and don't require outrageous lifts to accommodate.

Add on accessories from the factory like winches, light bars, roll bar padding, mud flaps to name a few are always acceptable because that is what people wanted when they purchased their Jeeps and the dealers offered them as well because they were factory approved. The factory Jeep Jamboree is a perfect example, just don't post something that looks like, what was that guys name?. I'm cloudless....

I think everyone is smart enough here to know just by looking at said Jeep is 'mostly' stock looking or not so use your own judgement.

My '72 Cj6

232 I6, D30 front, D44 Rear, 3 speed, D20 Tcase, 3:73 gears. Some bubba put those M151 wheels on it and the backspacing is way off. Looking for some original steelies. After searching forever I finally found two in a scrapyard of all places, about to be crushed! I have an 06 Unlimited but have lost all interest in it, the Cj6 is just too much fun. I'm unsure how stock I will keep it. I want it to look the same, but I just located a '65 Koenig Cj5 with a well drilling rig on the back. I'm thinking of swapping the D70 rear, Selectro Hubs, D18 PTO Tcase and PTO winch into it. It also has a halfcab but it needs a LOT of work before I can put it on.

Other than the wheels, nothing has been touched on it. It had been sitting in a barn for 20 years when I got it. Its got a little surface "patina" but no real rust. It was the first Cj6 I had ever laid my hands on so I snapped it up.

Here are the exceptions
Howell Injection
No one down here would touch a BBD carb in the early 90's
so wound up with this which has served me well
Seats except the rear one
Springs and Shackles
Tie Rods
Rims
Sold are CJ5 and forgot we swapped the tires out from the 7 to the 5
We were always going to swap back.Thought about it couple days later
but the 5 went to Wyoming OUCH.Spare tire rim is original
Radio
It went out,so bought a factory replica.Guy put the wrong name on the sales order and found one with removeable face installed.They sawed my
F!!!!! dash Long Story
Exhaust,Windshield and Visors,Dash Pad,Altenator still has original starter

Original owner and there's probably some 30 year old grease there somewhere. Rest is original.Window Sticker crumbled up from age but still have the owners manual

I noticed you have the heater knobs pulled out on the dash. Is it cold there?

Another stocker with the side steps!

I have purchased all of the below stuff over the years but have yet to install (Jeep is bone stock now except for Aftermarket white spoke wheels and rear bumper/ tire carrier)

Valve Cover............."Jeep" logoed aluminum cover

Carburetor...............MC 2100

Dash...........Laredo Grab Bar and Laredo Steering wheel (with NOS horn Cap)

Radio........OEM AM/FM/CB in dash, FM modulated Sony CD player and FM modulated IPOD hookup in Tuffy Console

Exterior.....Warn SE 8274 winch for front

Custom made frame mounted rear bumper with swing away tire carrier and receiver hitch,

Custom made rocker steps (similar to Warrior Products "Rock Barz" but mount without any drilling). Jeep had original color matched side steps which I have in the shop.

OEM Jeep CJ-8 rocker moulding to install

Wheels....NOS OEM White Spokes with Center caps, plan to run 31x10.50 BFG MT KM2's, currently has American Racing white spokes with BFG MT's 30x9.5 that were put in around 1986.

Hubs.....Warn hubs

Top.....ACME full length Hardtop


I plan on making the above mods to the Jeep to make it more user friendly, but I will not be doing ANYTHING that cannot be put back to stock, and I will be keeping ALL stock parts, down to the AMC marked belts and hoses.

Dad special ordered this Jeep in late '84.
