Stock Height? Do I have a lift ?

This is a stupid question, I am sure. What is the stock ride height of an 84 cj7. This is my first jeep and I have had alot of fun working on it and upgrading it. I want to raise it up a bit at this point. I am wondering if there was a previous lift on there. There are not many Cj's around my area so All I have to compare to is people driving new jeeps. I sit a bit higher than most stock mid 90' and newer. I also fit 30in tires underneath, but could proablly go a bit bigger. I am thinking that somewhere along the line my jeep had some sorts of lift installed and now the springs are just sagging. Or not, who knows?

Thanks,

Tim

I don't think you have any lift modifications. You can toss 30" and 31" tires under a stock CJ however you may get some rubbing depending on the application.

I used to own two CJ's...Perhaps a 3rd is in the future?

Tim,
I can give you bumper heights of:
ground to top of front bumper 22.5 inches and ground to top of rear crossmember 22.5 inches
But these are not truely correct as they involve tire size and pressure. So instead, the distance from center eyes on the shocks will give a better idea of where your springs are in relation to the frame. I have just under 15 inches on the front shock and 17 and 3/8 on the rear. This "at rest" measurements include factory medium ride springs for a hardtop model. Plus, they sag over the years and with use, but it should get you in the ballpark.
