Question Star like bolts on axles.

Time to replace axles.

What kind of tool do I need to lose up the star like bolts.

I tried a trox which did not work.

Please help...

try a 12 pt socket on them

1978 cj-7 had since 1979
401 .030 over- full floating flat top pistons
crower solid cam 292 dur .500/.510 lift
turbo 400 tranny 2500 stall
model 20 transfer case
aj delux glass body
4" lift
dana 30 frount
dana 44 rear
4.56 gears

Wait, the ones on the differential cover?

Those bolt might also be torx bolts that need internal sockets, those tend to have a sort of star look, but i can really think of where those might be on the axle, the only place ive seen them on a jeep is on the steering box mounts. Just my .02

I think you need to be a little more descriptive in what you ask. Assuming its a CJ5 or 7 and you are refering to the torx bolts on the differential cover.. I just did mine and it took a torch and a nice new sung torx bit. I heated up the metal around the bolts and sprayed them with some penatrating oil. waited a couple mins so the metal cooled a bit and torxed them off. Good luck

I was thinking the same thing as Jwhit. The description is definitely lacking.

The diff cover bolts are definitely Torx.

The diff cover bolts on mine are 7/16 bolts. Just goes to show you people will make do with what they have. I have for years haha

that is on my 77 CJ-5 anyway
