SR4 4WD Indicator

Hi Everyone!

I'm installing a Painless wiring harness and have come across a small issue. I have a SR4 transmission and I've searched through these forums and the internet in general... does a SR4 have a connection for the 4WD indicator?

The old harness had the orange wire which should be the 4WD indicator, but it was cut at the transmission. I've seen pictures of a small brass nipple on other transmissions but couldn't find anything like that on this one... which might explain why the old orange wire was cut in the first place. But, I want to make sure since the PO made a lot of modifications to the old wiring harness that make absolutely no sense.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

4WD indicator switch is on the transfer case ( Dana 300). I checked on my 1980 w/SR4 and the wire is orange. Switch is on the top right on the passenger side of the transfer case just to the rear of the shifter. The switch on the transmission passenger side of the transmission is for the backup lights. Hope this helps.

Thanks! Found the 4WD switch. I was hoping the wire connection was still there, but it's gone and looks like the PO just cut the old orange wire. Going to try and rig a connector for the new orange wire today.

Thanks again!
