Spring over or lift
Would really love opinions on this. Right now my cj has a spring over conversion. I am going to redo her this fall and I am swapping in dana 44s front and rear. Should I go with the spring over again or buy a lift. I love the way the jeep looks right now and far as the height goes with the 35s I have it looks good. I dont do hard core off roading. Mud yes, Big rocks no, I live on the east coast/ wilmington nc so I will be at the beach with it or on the road. Also for what it is worth I am removing the inline 6 and dropping in a 360.

If you do not do much wheeling that requires alot of articulation you do not need the spring over. With a bigger engine you will have axle wrap which is pretty common with spring over setups without some sort of trac bar.
Axle wrap will reduce the life and the ride quality of your jeep, in some cases it can even break a leaf spring.

Definitely the lift. Spring over requires some fabrication, and if not done right, could be extremely dangerous. You can get a RC lift for under $400, which should do the job just fine.

Since you said you're planning on tearing it down this winter and replacing the axles, it prolly won't be a simple job either way ( sua vs. soa) .
I hashed this out a while back and decided to use BDS 5" wrangler springs (sua) and i'm very happy with the way it turned out. It has excellent flex and ride and I don't have any of the problems associated with SOA. About the only drawback is the reduced clearance from having the springs and ubolts hanging down below the axle tube.

If it’s already SOA and your happy, don’t’ fix it. Put the little cash you might spend on the lift stopping axel wrap
I to don’t need a SOA (very little articulation needed) but I like the ride and it’s already there. No need to change.
