Spring over axel lift...??

I've seen a few CJ's that have been lifted by welding on spring perches and mounting the leaf springs on top of the axe. I've been considering this as an alternative to purchasing a suspension lift kit. Has anyone had any experiences, postive or negative, or have any strong feelings toward or against this setup? By the way, the Jeep is a 1986 CJ-7 with a few inches lift, 32" tires and is a daily driver as well as a trail machine.

Yep, its a good way to lift one. How big a tire you want to use?

Look at the TOTW at the top of the cj forum. Or search for SOA or spring over. It's been discussed a lot. Some SUA type people are stubborn and just won't give up and will try to bash it. Dont listen to them.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into some past threads...
To answer your question, I'm currently running 32" BFG Mud Terrain's, I guess I don't want to go too much bigger than 33" since its a daily driver.
