speedometer is tached out and stuck

it was bouncing at 60 but it bounced all the wat to the end and stayed there and ive disconnected the cable and its still there any ideas

The cable is broke will it go back to zero when I replace cable or is there something I need to do

Chances are the hairspring is broken. It should return to zero with or without speedocable attached. Hard to replace and calibrate that spring. I would look into a replacement face or whole unit.

Can anyone recommend what brand to buy and where I keep hearing bad things about crown

I don't know about the speedometer on the crown units but keep your gauges and get ready to swap your old ones for the new ones if you have any problems.

Use your old one to make a nice clock.

I've heard bad about crown omix-Ada and rugged ridge I didn't know if there was any other brands

Are there any speedometer repair shops in your area? If you are unsure, give a call to a mechanic shop and ask if they have a source. That way you can keep your original cluster. Saying that, I have a crown speedo in my Jeep for the past 3 years and have had no problems. God bless.

the cable is now fixed but the needle just past the spring snaped in half

speedometers in cj's are pointless, its not like it will ever go fast enough to break the law!

now for you guys running stroked v8's and ls's, thats a different story...

I love in a small town there are cops running radar every three miles for the next 40 miles any direction they have nothing better to do
