Spare tire rack

The spare tire rack and spare rack makes all kinds of racket (pun intended) when I drive down dirt roads. Since I can not drive and observe these items at the same time, I am have trouble determining what is causeing all the racket. Any ideas?

Bro:

It's just a lot of metal to metal contact back there. The body gets very weak where the mount attaches, and will allow all kinds of extra flexing. But see where and if any metal looks like its rubbing other metal. Place a bufffer if possible, and see what happens. Better yet, get a bumper-mounted tire carrier.

I have the one made by 4WD Hadware. Not cheap, but I'm very happy with it. You could check out a slew of sites for pics if you plan to build your own.

tire carrier

get a bumper tire carrier,on my cj-7 tire swings out off the right rearbody, latches closed on the left rear body.over time the tire carrier has worked the spot welds loose on the left rear fenderwell.am going to go into the pocket, put a bumper on this rig and then a tire mount off the bumper.500.00 worth anyway.
