Warn's 2 cents:

John,



The 8074 was an 8274 minus a clutch mechanism. For parts we recommend referencing the breakdown for the current model 8274-50 (attached) as it is updated with current part numbers. To update the 8074 with a clutch so that it can freespool it will require a new upper housing and clutch mechanism. Below are the part numbers.



Clutch assembly – part number 8326

Upper housing - 9285

OK, I'd like to use the CJ mounitng plate that came with the winch, but I'm missing these angled brackets so that the plate is fastened to the side of the frame rails (liberated the pics from an ebay auction and a previous thread on the CJ7 mounting plate). Anybody know where to grab them, or is this something that I'll need to have fabricated?:

I went to an auction seeking a winch for cheap (2 were listed, one small boat, one 8k.) Anyway I waited all day, and when the boat winch came up it went for more than retail for a new one. I just left after that.

I waited a bit, then gave up on finding them. I had a bumper fabricated by a guy locally, and he incorporated the winch mounting plate into the bumper and added some side brackets even though he thought they weren't necessary. I'm glad for the added support, though.

Yep, that happens a lot too. You just never know how things are going to sell. Who knows, by the time the 8k winch came up there may have been nobody there to bid against you.

I like that bumper, but I'm trying to keep the stock bumper for now so it's not another 100 pounds on the front of the CJ. If I had a 360 it might be a different story...
