Hey Bill glad to see you got the first coat on before the rain hit it. Looking great. The repairs turned out great too!

Hope your sick child is better. Keep the progress going and the pictures coming!

Project for today...

Got a little help from the sick one, I guess he is ready to go back to school...

time for lunch and nap, so I gotta stay quiet... here is what I got so far. It has been going good... that black stuff seams dryer on the inside so it has been coming off easier...

Oh my goodness, there are a ton of holes... my PO, for whatever reason drilled holes everywhere... I gave up!!! It's not like the holes are going to let in any more road noise, than the lack of a top!!!

Thanks dog toy!

I'm getting to the point that I haven't welded something in a while, and I want to go out and just stick a couple pieces of scrap together just because... is that sick or what?!?!?!?!!?!

OK, done with this body... for now anyway...

This coat went better than the underside... I think I figured out how to use the stuff!!! Once it dries, or most likely, next week I'll put the body on the frame and start putting things back together... then Upol Raptor...

Wow, the bottom of the tub came out great! Did you put a topcoat on the POR or plan to leave it? Between the POR and the Raptor inside the tub, you'll never have to worry about rust again. Looking forward to the finished product.

Thanks!!! I'm not gonna topcoat the underside. It should be fine. I might use flat black in the engine bay and wheel wells... not too keen on the shiny black look.

Hey Bill the tub is looking great. With all the work you've put into saving that it's starting to pay off. I'm sure after you get it finished you'll be glad you went this route.

I agree with you, flat black would look better. Keep up the great work.

Looks like your son is feeling better too, glad to see you getting him involved.

OK, so I haven't had much time... now the wife is sick, and the other kid is sick, plus more OT, but today while the boys were at school I did a little body work... this is the only before pic I had but you get the idea...

After... not great, but I will end up using some filler... what??? The PO used it like it was going out of style!!!

I was going to flange my insert, but I forgot in my haste (was excited, haven't melted metal in a while), so I burnt that little half circle on the lower left edge... screw it... more filler!!! Will flange the other side.

Sorry your wife and other child are sick. That looks like a pretty good patch Bill. Little filler and you'll have it. Hey you can fix that burn through at the bottom pretty easy. Get a piece of copper and clamp on the back and you could fill that in without much trouble, might be more apt to hold than bondo. Keep up the good work man and hope the family feels better soon!!

Jim, thanks for the idea with the copper!!! I'll try that next week, wish I would have seen that earlier!!! I flanged the pieces this time, but I couldn't get it in... so I started to try and bend it in the middle to slide the sides in... I bent it all right... the picture doesn't show it, but there is a little bulge in the middle of the piece on the side.

I'm half tempted to cover the tank indentation... although it will test my welding and fab skills!!!! What do you think???

I think I will have it primed by next week... maybe even painted... we know how my planning goes, though!!!! I took the week off... out of town Friday and Saturday, home with fam sunday, Golf Tournament on Monday, all day to play with Jeep Tuesday, kids and Jeep Wednesday thursday and friday!!!

You're welcome Bill. I'd say you're up to filling the tank indentation. Go for it. If the first try doesn't suit you you can always cut it out and go again. Since you've thought of doing it you might as well.

Sounds to me like you're looking forward to all this free time to work on the Jeep. Enjoy your time off.

Well, I went to the auto paint store today and learned a lot... unfortunately for me the process wasn't as easy as I had hoped. I figured out why there was so much bondo on this thing, every panel has a dent or a ding!!! I realy don't care, I just want a smooth surface for paint... here it is, my third coat of body filler and I haven't sanded it yet...

hopefully tomorrow will go better than today!!!
