CJDOGTOY, If you look at the pics on my photobucket, you will see that the channels under the jeep were rotted away pretty good. I tried to salvage them but in the end, it was just easier to get new ones. Somewhere between being cheap, and trying to reinvent the wheel, I decided to use 1x3 rectangular tubing. I figured it would be stronger than the OE channel, and I got 2 4'x4' sheets of 16 guage sheet metal and 20 feet of the tubing for $80 (all the OE style channels and floor would have been somewhere around $300), plus I needed to do something about the triangle supports at the firewall... I also used the tubing for the frame support in the bed, since the bolts busted in the captive nuts of the channel and that channel was mostly rust too!!! Looking at the other supports in the bed, I was thinking about replacing them too, but I'm at the point that I see what I am doing to the body is a temporary fix until I decide to get another tub... you know, putting lipstick on a turd.

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

The pic makes it look like it, but I don't think it is... and don't tell the wife if it is, until I'm done with the jeep!!!

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

Had about an hour tonight so I decided to try to fix something that has been bugging me... This is how the PO fixed whatever issue he had...

I decided to get rid of them, and I will use the 1x3 I have left to brace that area...

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

Is that a spring pack he turned into a body brace?

I can't believe you decided to save that tub. Wow.

Great work on the body. I bookmarked your build as a reference for when I get to the tub. i hate spot welds.

Looks like your PO was as bad as mine.

That is like 1/4" weldable steel, probably from OSH... I can't figure out why he would put the bushing in there!?!?!?! That thing was freakin solid!!!

I was close to trashing the tub and buying a fiberglass one, but I thought I'd give this a shot... but it's also why I just started cutting stuff off!!!

Eagle, thanks for the encouragement!!! When I look at my work, I'm not real happy, but I remember that it may just be a temporary fix, so..

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….
