You need some new shackle hangers Bill.

Looks like you're going to have to brace the front fenders. If you could have left the bend in it that would have made it stronger but I'm sure you'll come up with a great fix, even better.

Fuel tank is looking great too.

I was wondering how I would bolt your hanger on, but I think that I'm going to get some weld on hangers and put them on the bumper since I am going with the YJ springs, although if you cut 3/16 relief right under the hanger, and I bolted the hanger through the bumper... but I'm probably outboarding springs, so that won't work...

As for the fender, most of the fender gets cut away anyway once I put the tube fenders on, I just got a head start.

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

Bill, you replacing your lines with new, making your own or installing the original lines?

I'm interested in your bumper/shackle plan, though don't understand it yet, but will watch and learn.

Well, the original plan was to use some rubber fuel line rated for fuel injection, then I got a hair up my butt and ordered stainless line... here is the tank and lines mocked up... They were easier and harder than I expected... easy to get the basic form, but I crushed my vent line a little while making a tighter bend.

As for the bumper, I'm stealing the idea from BTF and Genright:
BTF

Genright

I think BTF's is a bit ugly having those huge fangs hang off the front., and I'm not sold on shackle reversal. So I will probably mount the hangers under the front bumper, and off the back (but probably off the bottom) of the rear.

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

But the right word at the right time... "Hey, give me a little hug!" That's the difference between lightning and a harmless lightning bug!

I'd definately make some kind of guard around the hangers Bill. Hey what size tires are you planning on running on this?

bill I used receivers from H.F. I got the ones designed to bolt onto a step bumper so that it already had the safety chain mounting point on it and a large flange to weld for added strength then I just notched out the bottom of the 2x4 tubing and welded it in.heres some pics to see what I mean

Scott, did I make you mad with my crack on Clay's thread???

I'm going 37's, SOA with YJ springs. Benefit is stretch. I don't want a drastic stretch, but with 37's, I'll need the stretch to clear the body because I think my over all lift will only be about 4"... another reason I comp'd the rear fenders and am going tube fenders up front.

I want this thing to be a capable offroader and comfortable driver.

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

Thanks for the info Bill. Not a day goes by I don't learn something new from the forum. It's gonna be interesting watching it come together.

I'd work on it more, it seams that even though I have three days off each week, with a wife, kids, youth group, and work, my days fill up quick!!!

I should have been a fireman!!!
