softtop... black denim or black??

So i decided to but a bestop for my cj5. i was wondering which would be better...the black denim or the black (which is vinyl im guessing) . Im up in Canada ,Newfoundland so the weather is not the best. thinking the denim might hold up better but not sure. thanks

I bought the black denim soft top. "Denim" is not the material - it's more the surface texture. And what I didn't know is that while the black denim looks great at night, it looks dark gray during the day. I'd stick with the black (01) color.

Sailcloth replacement tops aren't made for the CJ's. They stop at '88 and newer.

That's what I thought. I remember looking into this before and could never find one for the CJ series....

I miss having Whitco tops available too, bought my last one in 1993 for $300.00 new.

BesTop SuperTop.

Available, Great customer service on parts, and they go on sale frequently at various vendors. My 76 CJ5's SuperTop was $669.95 (free shipping) from www.clemson4wheel.com.

As posted the only difference in the Black vs Denim is the texture of the top and matte finish. I went with Black, as it is easier to keep clean.

Here's a pic of the old one after I cleaned it up a bit:

No pics of the new one, it's still in the box....

At the time, I couldn't beat on the Bestop Supertop. I got the black denim to give the CJ an updated look. It's really no harder to keep clean than the regular black. I've had both and I personally like the denim the best.

I bought my black denim Bestop Supertop for $498 + tax at 4WP. See what I mean about it not being a rich black color?
