Slave cylinder on 85 CJ7

I need some advice. I had to bleed my clutch and I am trying to put it back together. When I put the slave cylinder back on the pedal will not press in. I think what is happening is that the pushrod is catching against the lip inside the bell housing and not letting the clutch operate. Any ideas how I can get it back together and make sure the pushrod is going in without having to keep taking it back off. The clutch is working fine when I dont have the slave bolted down.It is an 85 CJ7 2.5L

Figured it out. The pushrod was sliding off the fork and not engaging. One of those things where I needed three hands.

Not for the 258, but the AMC 150 4 banger was hydraulic which is what the OP has.

It's just a Jeep, and if you don't wheel it once in a while, it's not even that.

And on the 258 it was standard for all Right Hand Drive markets, where people drive as God intended, on the right.

I have several and they work just fine.

Wish I had the 258. When this engine gives out or I have the extra $$$ I'm probably gonna swap for the 258. My dad has the 258 in his 83 CJ7 and has not had any problems with it.
